weeeeeeeeeee!kend!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEK!
In 3.5 hours, my three-fun-filled-days of no working begins!

Although I may not be at the truck stop, I definitely won't be bored! I have a lot to do and not a lot of time.
  • I need to find 20 old and or cute frames- all different, preferably. I will also need to paint and revamp them, if they are used.
  • I need to make a shit ton of food for the Thanksgiving bash we're having.
  • I need to finish a few birthday presents and think of a bridal shower present.
  • I need to fit some sleep in and maybe some lounging with nothing to do but cuddle with my kittens.
  • I need to get some serious bro time in- and sis time, if she's available.
  • I need to clean, clean, clean.
  • I need to finish all the decorations and set them up for the Thanksgiving din.
Today I'm grateful for:
  • cute, thoughtful things that people say, often without knowing that it's such.
  • my boots. they may not be glam status, but they're warm. ha ha
  • my new SUU gear that i purchased.
  • that i get to see Joey nearly every morning right when he wakes up. he's so cute.
  • birthdays, weddings, thanksgiving, and christmas in the next month!
  • my Katz, both human and animal.

And last but not least, I'll leave you with this inspirational thought of the day. Enjoy.

One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey.
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true,
One life can make a difference,
You see, it's up to you!

i wanna be angry today, but...

I wanna be angry tonight. I don't know why, but I can't. I have so much to be grateful for and I guess that is why I have been making all these gratitude lists. I tend to focus on the negatives a lot and then I write these lists and I wonder what it was that I was angry about.

Today was a super great day! I got to sleep all night and then actually sleep in and that makes a huge difference in my demeanor..I'm still bitchy, but not nearly as much as when I don't get enough sleep! My roomie and I decided on a whim that we wanted to get a friend for Calv. Margot, Lindsey and I set out to the pet store because we heard they had free kittens. We didn't find one we loved, so we headed to the Enoch Animal Shelter.

Talk about Cat Heaven. Seriously, the place was packed with cats. We were looking at all of the cats and one jumped on me. I freaked out and had Margot remove it from me and then it jumped on Lindsey. We kept looking, but I guess our cat chose us because we ended up with Gretchen (formerly called Spook). She's such a sweet cat and we love her to death. Calv, on the other hand, isn't so sure yet. He has been picking fights with her all day. I'm sure once they get to know each other that they will be best friends.

The only picture I have of her so far...there will be many more to come, I'm sure.

Help!

I have a huge dilemma and a quite perplexing question:

Here's the problem. I happen to be an old maid. That's not the problem, though. The problem is that I am also a cat lady. Since I am an old maid, I like to crochet...and my cat really loves yarn, too.

HOW DO OLD MAIDS (WHO IN TURN, ALSO TURN INTO CAT LADIES) CROCHET? I mean, seriously, whoever decided that old maids should be cat ladies obviously never tried it. It's totally not working for me.

So if you know the answer, please share. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love my cat AND I love crocheting but they don't seem to mesh.

picture dump and random shiz

It's been a minute since I did a "life update", so here it is: Life is good! I've been staying fairly busy with work and sleeping with some fun stuff on the side, too. Here are some pictures from my phone...they pretty much sum up what I've been up to lately! Hanging out with Lily, Joey, and Bearzie dog.
I found out a couple of days ago that my gramps has cancer. Again. He'll find out whether or not they will be doing chemo/radiology in the next couple of weeks. Please keep him in your prayers. I love my grandpa so much and I don't want him to have to go through all of this for the 3rd time. He is an amazing example to me though and has been positive--I guess he knows a little more about life than I do. Regardless of what happens, I know that my HP knows what's up and will take care of my grandpa. I love you, Grandpa.
I got to see my aunt Leslie a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a long time. We didn't get to chat for long, but it was very nice to see her and see how well she is doing. Last November both her daughter (my cousin) and her husband (my uncle) passed away. I donno how she has such a positive attitude with all she's been through. Her strength amazes me and I'm grateful that I have her support in my new journey down recovery lane.
Anyway, I guess that's good for the update...now onto the fun part. Enjoy!
Lily chillin' outside...

Go big or go home..

I'm going to Texas for my birthday weekend! OMG! I just purchased my plane tickets and I'm ready. Too bad I have to wait 2 weeks! Oh well, it'll give me time to prepare for all the madness. I cannot wait!

Here's what I get to do:

  • I get to Jenna! I haven't seen her in over a year so it'll be sweet to catch up and get to spend time with her.
  • Go to an AA convention. First ever! (for me, anyway). I'm stoked!
  • See what Texas is all about! I've heard plenty of good things about this place...but now I get to find out for myself. I haven't traveled outside of Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California since...2004. It's about damn time I start seeing the world! One state at a time...

I can't wait! yay! Bring on new adventures!

birth smirth

I just paid $18.00 for a copy of my birth certificate so that I can pay more money to renew my drivers license that expires on my birthday. Yay for being born!

But seriously...$18.00 dollars for a piece of paper that says I was indeed born?  LAME. Even more lame that I lost my real birth certificate on the Greyhound Bus....now that's scary shit.

I'm lucky to be alive and that I was born in the good ol' USA. And now I'm done ranting about stupid shit that I caused for myself.
The end.

first night jitters...

I slept at my new house for the first time (well, the first time that it was actually night time) last night. I'd like to report that I was a big girl and didn't get scared...and that would be a lie. I was terrified.

I got in bed at 2am and about 2 minutes later I got up because I was so scared. I cleaned the kitchen. Like scrubbed the shit out of it. I unpacked some more boxes and I even did a tad bit of decorating. Once 5am rolled around I tried to get back in bed. Still scared, but I stayed there and finally fell asleep when the sun was coming up around 7am.

I slept peacefully until my parents showed up with some things for my new pad and some food. Yum. Thanks M & D. Then I went back to sleep until around 4pm.

I figure that my first night alone in a my new place would be the scariest. I'm working a grave tonight so I won't get to test the theory until tomorrow night to let ya'll know how it goes...Wish me luck!

:]

Today has been a good one. I mean, sure, I've had two hours of sleep in the last 50 something hours; I'm sure I've been a real peach today. I got to go play with Lily this morning when I got off work and then I moved into my new house. And by that I mean I took all my shit there and haven't unpacked it yet. Really, I don't have a lot to unpack. Mostly clothes and random shit. I don't have any furniture and it's pretty bare, but I love it.

I jammed to my iPod and danced around in my underwear. That was fun.

When I woke up from my nap I was pretty terrified. I don't remember the last time I was home alone anywhere....I know, I know, grow up. But furreal, I'm a baby. I had to turn on every light...good thing the utilities are included in the rent!

Although there are FOUR dog kennels in the backyard, I was informed that pets are not allowed...wtf? haha. Oh well. I can barely afford myself and my plant so maybe a dog will come later.

Today I bought food for my new place. The only problem is that I forgot I didn't have a microwave OR any pots/pans...or dishes. I got home, starving, and the only thing I could eat was crackers and cheese. Livin' the dream, baby.

Do you ever feel like your life is a dream? Or that you're in a horror film? I do. But really, I'm a crazy betch.

8.05.2011

Today...

  • I wonder where all my money goes...seriously...
  • coffee grosses me out and then i drink it anyway. lots of it. all night long.
  • I feel like I'll never be good enough.
  • giving up seems easier than going through all the BS. But I won't give up.
  • I wonder why the hell I like Snus..Gross! but I love it.
  • I think about how awesome my life is and get really terrified.
  • I forget my past and where I've been. Then I remember it and remember why I'm doing what I'm doing today.
  • if I could hop on a plane right now I would. I'd go anywhere!
  • I get to move into my new house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray!
  • I'm gonna try my hardest to get a pet (dog or cat). Dream big, Jill...Dream big.
  • I'm bored at work. Go figure.
  • is Friday! :]
  • I want to sleep all day but that isn't gonna happen.
  • I love water.
  • I hope I don't have to pee in a cup. I hate that.
  • I'm grateful for all the cool peeps in my life. Furreal, ya'll rock.
  • I get to hang out with my beautiful sister Enna.
  • I get to spend time with my brothers.
  • I'm gonna go grocery shopping for my new house, yet I have no dishes or any furniture. ha.
  • I'm happy as a bee. Whatever that means.
  • I miss you.
  • I'm scared shitless and I'm gonna do it anyway.
  • I use "I" a lot. I'm a selfish little betch.
  • tanning sounds fun. I shall go.
  • I'm gonna paint my bed. Black. I'll show you when it's done. Maybe...
  • I get to play with Lily. She's cute and fun.
  • I'll be coming back to work. So I'm sure I'll be blogging again. Don't worry.
  • I'm gonna adopt my plant back from my sister. Thanks for taking care of Benny for the last ...year. Pretty sure I got him as a baby and then I ran away so my sister was his foster mom. I get him back today. Finally. It's been quite the journey. Welcome home, Benny Boo boo.
  • I applied at a couple more jobs. Even though I have one. I want more. More more more.
  • I'm rambling. As always.

8.01.2011

movin' on up...and out

I get to go see my new apartment in the morning. I am stoked! I am going to live alone- for the first time ever. No parents. No sibs. No roomies. No girlfriends.

No one but me.

Needless to say, it's a big step for me. I couldn't be happier about this move and I'm so grateful that the landlords are freaking amazing. Like for real, nicest people...ever! Plus, I don't have to sign a lease or anything. I am pretty lucky to be able to rent from them--thanks to lots of people who helped me get into this place.

That's another thing. Ya know, I've always had a lot of supportive people and lots of people who would do anything to help me and I always took advantage of them. Now that I'm actually working for things and trying to do life on my own, things have been going really well and people have been very generous and have helped me with anything they could. I'm very grateful for everything I have and for all the amazing people in my life! Even my bad days are not bad at all..I've got a great life and I'm very blessed.

Now for the important stuff...like how I'll decorate it..and with what. I don't really have any furniture. And by that I mean I have nothing but a bed. Ha ha. Don't worry, I have a few ideas [thanks to pinterest.com]:
I'll make these someday of cities I've been to...or wanna go to...
I didn't find this on pinterest but I love it! Great [cheap] idea!

Since I can't paint, the walls might look a little something like this...perhaps.

I love this table. I'm gonna make it and it will double as my kitchen/coffee table. Classy, right?

So pretty much I will have a fancy house and I couldn't be more excited! Oh and any donations of junk you don't want will be gladly accepted. :]

*sometimes i wish life were this easy. i need a sign...please and thank you.

8.06.2010

i'mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm BAaaaaaaaaaaack!

Okay, that was dramatic but I'm excited to be back in the blogging world. I have missed blogging because then I don't remember half of the crazy stuff I do!

The blog needs some work...it looks a little trashy and worn out. Maybe this weekend I'll fix her up a bit so that ya'll will wanna read this dorky little blog again. Is anyone still out there?!

Love,
Jill

3.29.2010

goll damn, i could use a coke

It's 4:10pm and I haven't showered. Nope, not sick. Just lazy.

I was gonna run to the Mav and grab a coke, and then I looked in the mirror and decided I should never leave the house looking like this. I hate my life sometimes.

Oh, and of course I get to have my booking picture taken this week. Glad I have 20 million zits on my face. You're welcome, Cedar City. Enjoy!

3.24.2010

health care, smhealth care...

What's all the fuss about? Honestly.

The current heath care system is not perfect or even semi-perfect. Lets try something new. I don't care if you agree or not, it's happening and fighting it won't help. Although the new plan may not be perfect (is there ever a perfect plan?), it's a step in the right direction.

I won't lie, I am not an expert on the matter and I won't pretend that I am. I haven't read the bill in its entirety, but have those of you who are opposed to it read it either?

Change isn't bad.

3.21.2010

Sometimes I wish I could go back to the carefree, fun times.
Then I remember times like this:

Being a kid was fun; I 'd go back any day, for one day. I just never, ever, ever wanna go back to middle school or high school. I was (and I guess still am) painfully awkward. Ah, the joys of being an awkward pre-pubescent middle school girl.

*Oh, and by the way, middle school really wasn't that "painful" for me. I just like being dramatic about my life. :]

3.19.2010

woah, hold your horses...addicted to you?

I just received an e-mail with the subject line: "how to get him 'addicted' to you".

Did I read it? No. Can I imagine what it said? Yes.

  1. Have boobs, get fake ones, or stuff your bra.

 2.  Flirt. A lot. Be as cheesy as human possible.

3. Cook. Men (people) love food. Dessert is where you can really score bonus points.
4. Clean. The. Shit. Outta. Everything. All. The. Time.

5. Never look like you're been cleaning, cooking, or anything else that would be seen as "dirty". Always, always, always look like a super-model. Sweats are a no-no.
6. Be yourself. (hahahhahahhahaha)
And by that, I mean don't be yourself at all. Be fake. Always put on a smile, even if you want to cry. Never, ever leave the house without a 6inch coat of makeup on. Laugh at him even when he's so not funny.

7. Get a new dude who doesn't need to be "obsessed" or addicted with you in order to love you. Honestly, wouldn't it be a little creepy if you wanted him to be obsessed with you in the first place??

Oh, and did I mention that if you have boobs he'll love you no matter what??! Get fake ones if you don't have them already. It's the hottest new thing to do.

3.17.2010

No. I refuse to eat your food unless.....

Earlier today I decided to eat at In & Out Burger. Yummy.

Then I noticed the ridiculous uniforms that the employees are required to wear. Why??? I mean, I can understand the point of having uniforms and sometimes they even look nice. What I do not understand is why on earth someone who is opening a business would purposefully choose for their employees to look so ridiculous.

After thinking long and hard I came up with some possible arguments:

  1. The owners are ugly and want their employees to be on their level...or below.
  2. They want customers to find pleasure in seeing these poor employees dressed like clowns.
  3. The owners actually think the uniforms are flattering and look decent.
I, for one, think it's very degrading and unnecessary for employees who work at fast food chains and otherwise to wear hideous uniforms that provide nothing extra that regular clothes couldn't.

Excuse me while I go write letters to owners of all fast food chains to complain about how they are all assholes and bitter. Included in the letter I'll request that employees have uniforms that look more like this:

3.11.2010

i'm having a quarter-effing-life crisis...help!

For those who don't know me, I'll soon be 25 years old. In fact, I'll be a quarter of a century old in exactly 177 short days. EEK!

Okay, okay...for ya'll who are already to the big 2-5 mark and beyond, chillax. I don't think you're old if you're over 25. I'm just a freakin' out a little bit because I always thought that by 25 I'd have a completely different life than I do right now. Ever since I was little I always thought that by 25 I'd "have it all" : sexy husband, white picket fenced in house, little dog in the backyard, 8 (effing) kids, and the president of the young women's.

Honestly, I've never had, and will never have any of those things...at least not in the way I had planned for so many years. And I'm perfectly okay with it. Sure, sometimes I wonder how much different or "easy" might life could be if I did choose my childhood path and it almost seems worth it. Then I snap back to reality and I remember that I'd end up in a mental institution if this : sexy husband, white picket fenced in house, little dog in the backyard, 8 kids, and the president of the young women's, was my life.

I don't want a husband. I could settle for a studio apartment in a larger city. A dog, sure, why not? 8 kids, dream on. Church? No thanks.

Yes, I'm freaking out that I'm turning 25 because I have absolutely no idea where my life is going and where I'll end up next...but I guess that's also what I love about my life so much. I have nothing tying me down or holding me in one spot. I am free to blow with the wind; I hope I never get tied down.

Naturally, I don't want to end up alone and I don't intend to do so. I just don't want the same things I always thought I'd want. Sometimes it's confusing to try and break out of the mold that was made for me and what I wanted for so long; sometimes I don't know if I'm making the right choices.

Confused as I may be, I do know one thing, I know that no matter what I do I'll always have my family and friends and what more could a girl ask for? So to all of you who get to deal with my "quarter-life crisis" freak out sessions, just know that I love you. And until I'm done freaking out and deciding what to do next, sorry I'm a little bitch. xoxo

So here's to making the big 2-5 the best it can be! I can't wait to see what life hands me next! Bring it on! (and trust me, I know I have a while until my birthday)...but just in case you want gift ideas, here ya go:

  • books. i love books.
  • music is nice.
  • money.
  • a lover? maybe...
  • scrabble shit. <3
  • notes/cards/letters
  • candy

3.06.2010
